2 Reasons to Have Video Surveillance at Your Business

If you are setting up a new alarm system for your business, you'll want to make sure that you are getting all the features that make sense for your business and your needs. One of the things that you might want to put on your alarm system is a video surveillance feature. If you are going to add in video, you need to make sure that you keep it out of places where cameras shouldn't be, including places like bathrooms. Even with its limitations, there are a lot of good reasons to add video surveillance to your business' security system. 

1. Shoplifting

If you have a retail business, one of the problems you may have to deal with is shoplifting. There are always going to be people who want to have whatever it is you are selling without having to pay for it. If you have cameras that go to monitors and are saved to a backup, you can catch shoplifters in the act and you can have records of the person shoplifting that you can use as evidence. You can't put the cameras inside the fitting rooms, but you can put them near the fitting rooms or outside of the bathrooms, both places that people like to use to hide items they are trying to steal.

You can also make sure that you have cameras place right over items that are often stolen. For example, if you sell razors in your store, the more expensive kinds are often a target, so if you have a camera angled so that it can see that area, then you can help to eliminate that issue. 

2. Safety

Another reason that you might want to put video surveillance on your security system is that you are going to be able to increase your personal safety, as well as the safety of your employees. There are several reasons for that. One is that you are going to be able to see what is going on outside of your business. That means you can check to see what's going on before you leave the building, which is a good thing at night. You will also have a record of anyone who is watching your business when people are there and anyone who may be around at night.
